A TRIBUTE TO THE IRANIAN PRESIDENT EBRAHIM RAISI BY: PROF. NEELAM MAHAJAN SINGH

A TRIBUTE TO THE IRANIAN PRESIDENT EBRAHIM RAISI

BY: PROF.  NEELAM MAHAJAN SINGH
'Sayyid Ebrahim Raisol-Sadati', known as
Ebrahim Raisi was born on 14th December 1960 to a clerical family; in Noghan district of Mashhad in Iran. His father, Seyed Haji, died when he was barely 5 years old. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was a Warrior of Islamic Warrior

At the very outset, we express our deepest condolences to Begum Jamileh Alamolhoda Sahiba and the people of Iran, on this unbearable loss of President Ebrahim Raisi.

He had resounding achievements to his credit. He worked with dedication to reach the highest judicial post of the Chief Justice of Iran from 2019–2021.

Ebrahim Raisi passed his primary education in 'Javadiyeh School'; and then studied in the 'Hawza' (Islamic seminary). In 1975, he went to 'Ayatollah Boroujerdi School' to continue his education in Qom Seminary. He received a doctorate degree in law. 'Ilm' (education) was in the heart of President Ebrahim Raisi. He was a student of Seyyed Hossein Borujerdi, Morteza Motahhari, Abolghasem Khazali, Hossein Noori Hamedani, Ali Meshkini and Morteza Pasandideh. Raisi passed his 'Kharej-e-Feqh' (external-Fiqh) to Seyyed Ali Khamenei and Mojtaba Tehrani.

Raisi subsequently again declared himself an ''Ayatollah shortly before the 2021 presidential election. The decree by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei appointing him as President, refers to him as a hojat-ol-eslam.

In 1981, he was appointed the prosecutor of Karaj. Later on, he was also appointed Prosecutor of Hamadan and served both positions together. He was simultaneously active in two cities more than 300 km away from each other. After four months, he was appointed Prosecutor of Hamadan Province.

Ebrahim Raisi held senior positions in Iran's establishment. After Khomeini's death and election of Ali Khamenei as the new Supreme Leader, Raisi was appointed Tehran's prosecutor by newly appointed Chief Justice Mohammad Yazdi. He held the office for five years from 1989 to 1994. In 1994, he was appointed head of General Inspection Office.

Raisi was a member of the board of trustees of Executive of Imam Khomeini's Orders for ten years by order of Seyyed Ali Khamenei. He was also a member of the "Supreme Selection Board". He was the founder of "Fatemeh Al-Zahra Seminary" (in Tehran) and the first secretary of the headquarters for reviving the enjoining good and forbidding wrong in the country.

He became Chairman of Astan Quds Razavi on 7 March 2016 after the death of his predecessor Abbas Vaez-Tabasi, a position which he stayed in until 2019. He was the second person to serve this office from 1979. Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei enumerated serving the pilgrims of the holy shrine, especially poor people, and also serving nearby, especially the poor and dispossessed as two important responsibilities of Raisi in his appointment order.

Last week, the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi had a profound impact on the world political scenario. Analysts have explained as to who could have planned to crash 'Bull-12' helicopter? After the death of President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Abdullahian in a helicopter crash, let us discuss it's impact on Iran. Raisi was considered the successor of Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In such a situation, his sudden death has raised many questions. Iran had declared a week of national mourning. The death of President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian in a helicopter crash had left Iranians in grief and disbelief. As soon as Iran's government media confirmed their death, a wave of mourning spread amongst the Muslims, all over the world. Ebrahim Raisi and Abdullahian, both have been declared 'Martyrs'. After the sudden death of the Iranian President, questions are being raised as to what effect this will have on the politics of the Islamic Republic? In
'Shia Theocracy', the Supreme Leader of Iran is Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Vice President Mohammad Mokhber has been declared interim President. Why did the other two helicopters not crash? The one carrying the President, Foreign Minister and other Iranian officials was damaged and reduced to ashes. However, those who think so may be disappointed. Iran affairs experts say that Raisi's sudden death will not have any significant impact on Iran's internal regime. Emotionally, the Shia community is certainly saddened, but the Sunni Muslims are unanimously grieving the demise of the Iranian President. Dr. Mir Javanenfar, a lecturer on Iranian affairs at Reichman University, said that Raisi's death will not bring much change at the level of Iranian government policies. He also believes that Raisi's death will neither change Iran's enmity with Israel, nor will they stop supporting extremist proxies 'Hamas and Hezbollah' or their efforts to make nuclear weapons. Ayatollah Khamenei holds the status of Supreme Leader in Iran. Even though the president is elected there, the policies of the country are finalized by the supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In such a situation, all the aggressive policies of Iran will continue as before. Major General Yakov Amidror, former national security adviser of Israel, says, "The language of those who replace Raisi and Amir Abdullahian will be different, but in Iran the final decision is taken neither by the President nor the Foreign Minister". Ebrahim Raisi was considered to be Khamenei's successor. Ebrahim Raisi, who held important responsibilities in Iran's 'Justice Department', was elected to the post of President in 2021. He had ordered the hanging of many people in the 1980s. That is why he was also called the 'Butcher of Tehran'. Known for his radical views, 64-year-old Raisi established Iran's international sovereignty, which earned him special respect from all Islamic states. This is what makes Raisi different from those who replaced him.

Iran has now issued a nuclear threat to Israel. If there is any conspiracy behind the accident, it will create a complete sensation. The Iranian government has started investigating it. Did foreign powers have any reason to get Raisi killed? Ebrahim Raisi was not such an influential player in the country's defense establishment. Why are the Chinese experts doubting the reason for the death of the Iranian President? Pointed towards these countries, Turkey's killer drone is the one that took out the debris of the Iranian President, with the Iranian army struggling for 12 hours. The death of the Iranian President can trigger a power struggle in the country. Some politicians will try to take advantage of this accident. President Ibrahim Raisi's helicopter blown to a burnt rubble in the accident. Experts believe that how fog caused the death of Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi and not the other two helicopters? The wreckage of President Ebrahim Raisi's helicopter was found, in which none survived. It is after confirmation that Iran's state TV announced the death of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash. After this helicopter accident, an Israeli Rabbi said, 'Comparing Raisi to the devil, considered it as, 'God's justice'! Is Israel behind the Iranian President's helicopter crash? Defense experts have lifted many veils from the mystery of Raisi's death. Supreme Leader Khamenei paid his personal and tearful tribute to the Iranian President. Hamas Chief, Haniyeh was also present, and millions of grief-stricken people took to the streets. He was buried on 23rd May 2024. Iran's late President Ebrahim Raisi was buried on Thursday in the country's holiest Shia, Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad. The eighth Imam of the Shia community is also buried in this shrine. A large number of people were present on this occasion, wearing black robes in mourning. The Raisi government had taken strict action during the demonstrations over the death of Mahsa Amini in 2022, due to which people were angry. There were three helicopters in his convoy, but only the one in which he and his foreign minister were travelling crashed. The whole of Iran wept in tears at the last farewell of Ebrahim Raisi! India's Vice President, Sh. Jagdeep Dhankhar met Iran's acting President Mohammad Mokhbar and condoled the death of President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hussain Amir Obdullahian. On reaching Iran, he paid tribute to the departed souls. Earlier, a day of state mourning was declared in India on the death of Raisi. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar visited the Iranian Embassy in New Delhi and paid tributes on behalf of India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had met President Ebrahim Raisi a few days ago, and signed the Agreements related to Chabahar port. Late President Ebrahim Raisi has inscribed his name in the history of Iran for uranium, petrol, prosperous economy and the Islamic sovereignty. Iran and India have always had friendly relations. In the next fifty days, elections for the new Iranian President will be held. Ebrahim Raisi will be remembered as a friend of India. May Allah grant 'Jannat-ul-Firdaus' to all those who died in the Bell-12 helicopter air crash. It is hoped that the situation in Iran will soon be under control and the people of Iran will once again choose the government of their choice.
