18th BRICS Summit New Delhi To Herald Global Peace

The 18th BRICS Summit is an upcoming international meeting of comity of nations, scheduled to be hosted by India in 2026 as part of it's BRICS chairmanship. It will be held in New Delhi from 12–13 September 2026.
The focus will be on building for resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability amongst the participating nations. BRICS includes Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, South Africa, United Arab Emirates etc.
India's Prime Minister
Narendra Modi, will chair the summit. BRICS is an inter -governmental organization which is held annually, with the rotating chairmanship amongst the member countries. Between 14 and 15 May 2026, the foreign ministers of BRICS member states held a meet in New Delhi, to prepare the road to discuss global issues, ahead of the heads of States' Summit. India assumed the BRICS chairmanship on 1 January 2026, succeeding from Brazil, which hosted the 17th BRICS Summit in 2025.
As chair, India is responsible for organizing the 18th BRICS Summit and associated ministerial and working-group meetings. Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, President of Saudi Arabia is listed and treated by BRICS and India as a member, but Riyadh has never publicly confirmed to a formal accession.

Yamandú Orsi, Bahrain's Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King Chair of the Gulf Cooperation Council, are key participants in BRICS Summit 2026. 18th BRICS Summit on 12–13 September 2026 will be held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
The Summit will bring together leaders of BRICS member and partner countries, as well as outreach invitees. India’s BRICS Chairship is guided by the theme: “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”, reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a people - centric approach rooted in the spirit of "Humanity First." In addition to these areas, the leaders will exchange views on strengthening intra -BRICS cooperation on common priorities and share perspectives on global and regional matters of mutual importance.
Under India’s Chairship, the Ministry of External Affairs will organize over 350 meetings and high level engagements, in over 25 cities across India to further strengthen the BRICS strategic partnership across three fundamental pillars of political security, economic, financial, and cultural cooperation in people to people exchanges. Through these engagements, and business to business initiatives, India's BRICS Chairship has contributed to advancing BRICS cooperation through practical and development-oriented outcome.
India is a founding member of BRICS, and has previously held its Chairship three times in 2012, 2016 and 2021. The year 2026 also marks a significant milestone as BRICS completes twenty years since its establishment.
The theme for the 2026 BRICS presidency under India's chairship is strengthening economic, social, and institutional safety to handle global shocks, supply chain issues, and climate risks.
Advancing digital public infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and financial technology for inclusive growth are the key issues before the BRICS strategic cooperation: Deepening political, security, and economic ties across member nations and the Global South will be discussed. Boosting climate action, green and clean energy, Dr. S. Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister launched the logo of BRICS India 2026. Accelerating collective efforts toward climate action, finance, energy transitions, and sustainable development effects humanity. Several European Union nations will also participate. In retrospect the analysts of international relations state that the BRICS Summit is notional and symbolic, that doesn't have global impact. After USA - Isreal attack on Palestine [Gaza], death of endless human beings and closure of the Straits of Hormuz, the global economy has got a real knocking.
This has impacted the economies of most nations. India is also facing huge financial crisis and the buying capacity of common man has got adversely effected.
Vikram Misri, IFS, Foreign Secretary and his team in the Ministry of External Affairs are having a herculean task to ensure smooth and successful completion of BRICS Summit 2026. It mat be stated that India has a foreign policy orientation towards "Bahujan Hitai Bahujan Sukhai and Vasudev Katumbhkum" ( i.e. The world is one family and may all being on earth live in harmony and peacefully.) Such international interaction amongst working-group of the world leaders is essential in bringing peace, amongst warring nations. The peace in West Adia, peace in Palestine - Isreal, condemnation of greedy agrandisement of any nation's natural resources should be addressed. It's hoped that BRICS 2026 in New Delhi will be a harbinger of peace, prosperity and global coexistence.
