Ramesh Bidhuri: Oust The Demonic Stigma In Dustbin
• Prof. Neelam Mahajan Singh •
☆ 'We the people of India' is the motto of the Preamble of our Indian Constitution, 'Bharat Ka Samvidhan'. On this premise, the complete dominance, prosperity, socialist, secular, democratic, Republic of our Bharat i.e. India has been established. Now 'Vasudeva Kutumbhakam', a Sanskrit phrase; meaning 'the world is one family', is adapted at the G-20 Summit 2023; in New Delhi. This motto was internationally acclaimed in the 'Delhi Declaration'. It is a philosophical concept that embodies the inclusive nature of the ideas of universal brotherhood and the interconnectedness of all nations and beings. BJP's South Delhi's Member of Parliament, Ramesh Bidhuri, in a live T.V. telecast, broke all limits of uncouth, indecent and reprehensible behavior in the new Parliament building; which is considered as a temple of India's democracy. With his double edged sharpened, dirty tongue, Ramesh Bidhuri, not only tarnished his own face but pushed the Bharatiya Janata Party into a cesspool of unanswered questions. Ramesh Bidhuri used abuses like 'Abbey Bhadvey, Katua, Terrorist, Ttraitor, Rastradrohi, Abbey Atankwadi' etc. to Bahujan Samaj M.P. Kunwar Danish Ali. Shouldn't Speaker Om Birla have expelled Ramesh Bidhuri immediately? Was he blindfolded, like the 'Dhritarashtra of Mahabharata? Was there cotton buds in his ears? The entire country and theworld, watchedthis shameful action of reprehensible, utterances to another M.P. of a minority community.
Bidhuri made his controversial comments during a discussion on 'Chandrayaan-3's success' in the Lok Sabha. After this, an uproar and bedlam broke out in the House and opposition leaders demanded strict action against Ramesh Bidhuri. Lok Sabha's Speaker Om Birla had taken Ramesh Bidhuri's controversial statement in the House 'seriously and warned him of strict action against him if such a behavior is repeated in future'. That's all? Is it enough? Bharatiya Janata Party should expel goons like Ramesh Bidhuri from the primary membership of the party. The likes of Ramesh Bidhuri, or any other political party should be thrown into the garbage of political space! Is this symbolic of the Hindutva brigade or the yearning for a Hindu Rashtra? These people who commit such heinous acts should have no place in India's political system. BJP President J. P. Nadda has issued a Showcause Notice to Ramesh Bidhuri seeking his reply within 15 days. Is it real? Officials said that Speaker, Om Birla was very upset with Ramesh Bidhuri and warned Bidhuri of strict action to be initiated against him! Why next time, why not now Mr. Speaker?
Soon after Bidhuri's remarks, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, who was present in the House, expressed regret over the incident. M.P. Kunwar Danish Ali, reacting to this matter said, "I hope that justice will be done to me and the Hon'ble Speaker will take action against Bidhuri. If it does not happen, I will consider leaving this House with a heavy heart." Kunwar Danish Ali was seen in tears, sobbing while giving his reaction on several T.V. channels.
M.P. Nishikant Dubey, an economist, M.P. tried to subvert the nature of this controversy. In a letter to the Speaker, Nishikant Dubey writes, "Danish Ali had used extremely objectionable and derogatory words against P.M. Narendra Modi. I think this is enough for any patriotic, public representative to lose his patience. While leaving, Ramesh Bidhuri retorted with the same answer that he deserved". To say the least, this is indeed very shameful! Responding to Nishikant Dubey's allegations, Kunwar Danish Ali said, "Some BJP leaders are trying to spread a narrative that I provoked Ramesh Bidhuri in Parliament. Whereas the truth is I have worked to save the dignity of the post of Prime Minister and had demanded the Chairman to remove the grossly objectionable words related to Modi ji from the proceedings of the House," Ali posted on X Twitter. On the other hand Ramesh Bidhuri has maintained a stoic silence on this entire episode. The truth is that on September 21, Ramesh Bidhuri abused Kunwar Danish Ali and made indecent comments related to a minority religion and Muslims in general.
Opposition parties Congress, DMK, NCP, RJD, AAP, BRS and TMC have written a letter to the Speaker Om Birla, demanding that the matter of Ramesh Bidhuri's conduct and comments be sent to the Privileges Committee of Parliament and that an immediate action should be taken against Bidhuri. The incident is presently under the purview of the Privileges Committee, for necessary action against the delinquent Ramesh Bidhuri. All political parties have strongly, unequivocally condemned Bidhuri's statement and utterances.
The President of 'All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen' or AIMIM; Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi has claimed that no action will be taken against Ramesh Bidhuri. Owaisi said, "There is a possibility that he may be rewarded and made the President of BJP's Delhi unit. Today, Muslims in India are being treated in the same way as Hitler's concentration camps treated the Jews in Germany." In retrospect, the author of this essay is extremely upset and shocked at this gross impropriety of Ramesh Bidhuri. Do these leaders want to create a tragedy in the country by polarizing the society? Has the principle of 'Hindu-Muslim-Sikh-Isai, hum sab hain bhai bhai' gone into wilderness? We are all brothers and sisters of a nation of unity in diversity. Does the Indian Constitution allow such abuses to be made against the Muslim community?
Of course, former Congress President Sonia Gandhi had also called P.M. Narendra Modi a 'Maut Ka Saudagar i.e. a merchant of death'!
Rahul Gandhi is called 'Pappu'!
BSP supremo Behan Mayawati gave the slogan of 'Tilak, Tarazu aur Talwar, inko maro jutey char' i.e. the Brahmins, Kshatriyas and Bania communities should be hit with shoes!
Although Mayawati made the same Brahmin Satish Mishra, as her chief advisor and member of Rajya Sabha. These are highly dangerous, polarized and divisive narratives. The truth is that religion, socio-economic and caste based politicization is rocking in political debates in the Indian context.
It is important to keep this in mind, that what will be the impact of these horrifying, despicable statements of monstrous people like, Ramesh Bidhuri on the new generation? Is this the New and Emerging India? PM Narendra Modi has called the next few years as the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal'. Then why so much poison is being spewed by their party men? It is sincerely hoped that uncivilized people like Ramesh Bidhuri are not the 'face, character and gait' (Chal, Charita, Chehra) of BJP! To you your, religion and to me mine! I appeal to my countrymen to socially boycott those who use indecent language in political domains. The leaders of all political parties should try to restrain themselves, to exhibit their blinded patriotism. Let's pledge to strengthen the social harmony and pluralistic fabric of India. We are all one family. 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbhakam' is our guiding spirit.
