'Daughter of Kashmir' 'Daughter of India' Revolutionary journalist, poetess, Solicitor for Human Rights Protection & Philanthropist:
#Neelam_Mahajan_Singh quotes Amir Khusro:
"Gar firdaus bar-rue zamin ast, hami ast, hamin ast, hamin ast” (“If there is a heaven on earth, it's here, it's here, it's here.”) Mughal Emperor Jehangir said it all, when he visited Kashmir in the 17th century.
My poem:-
'Time to come in half lit darkness'
At noon's silence
no words, no movement
Snow on windows
On pole wires
The nest on the branch lies buried in snow
No 'Shikaras' on frozen Dal Lake
'Kangris' inside 'firen'
Sipping Kashmiri Kehwa
Crow is gloomy without
a resting place
No grain or bread pieces?
Dog moves wagging tail in hunger
Cat mews on compound wall since morning
“What can this snowfall offer to hunger?”
And someone stepped out on fresh snow so early
Where did he go?
O Breeze! Be truthful !
Did you convey that to my beloved ?
Neelam Mahajan Singh
