Born on 22nd August 1956, in the family of Sayed Shamsul Hasan Shamsi, in Lucknow.
Education: M.A. in Persian from Lucknow University, advance Diploma in Mass Media in Urdu from JNU, New Delhi,
Television Production Course from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.
Shakeel Hasan Shamsi's last contribution was as Editor - Inquilab Urdu newspaper (North) since 2011 (India’s oldest and largest circulated Urdu daily which is published from Delhi and 10 cities of U.P. and 3 cities of Bihar. This newspaper is owned by the Jagran Group). Prior to this Shakeel was with Doordarshan as News producer, Films Division of India (script and commentary writer), Lok Sabha T.V. (Consultant Producer) Sahara Alami Urdu Channel Sr. Producer and Resident Editor, Daily Inquilab working as Editor till date (Total Experience of 38 years, in the field of Urdu Literature, electronic and print journalism).
Awards Received in recognition of Urdu Literature, Poetry Bhartendu etry and Urdu Education:
1. Annual award of Doordarshan for the Genext Program
2. Bhartendu Award conferred by Ministry of I & B for the first ever book on Television Journalism.
3. Award for excellence in the field of Journalism by U.P. Government’s Urdu Academy.
4. Award for Urdu Journalism, conferred by Delhi Urdu Academy.
5. Matrashri Award for the excellence in the field of Electronic Journalism.
6. Mohabbat Award by ATS group for spreading love through poetry.
7. Khankhana Award by Hindi Sahitya Sammelan for promoting National Integration.
8. National Integration Award by Indian Cultural Society for contributions in Urdu literature.
Shakeel Hasan Shamsi has Mushairas attended: Republic Day’s Mushairas at Red Fort, Dubai, Qatar, Bahrain and pan-India, with eminent Urdu poets for the last four decades. He has given innumerable lectures in journalism; at Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Makhan Lal Chaturvedi University, J.N.U., Aligarh Muslim University, Jamia Millia Islamia, amongst others.

In pursuance of his professional duties, Shakeel Hasan Shamsi has innumerable global travels, that include, U.S.A., South Africa, Denmark, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, UAE, Pakistan, Israel, Iraq, Qatar, Bahrain, Thailand, Myanmar, Turkey & Nepal.
In his stupendous career it's hoped that Shakeel Hasan Shamsi Saheb continues to give his literary contributions to the pluralistic, multilingual, democratic society in India and to the comity of nations.
